Rest in Peace-Carly Tajmir

Carly Michelle Delahoussaye Tajmir, 38, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026. 

This selfless woman was born in Louisiana, and grew up in New Iberia where she attended Daspit Elementary, Belle Place Middle, and Westgate High School. 

Her careers have been a variety of professions where she began studying Psychology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette while she worked as an assistant to a local Psychology Firm. She wore many hats at this time including being a childcare Nanny to the Schunemeyer family. 

During her young adult life, Carly was Miss Iberia LXVI in 2007 where she utilized her title to run a food program in order to feed families for Thanksgiving. 

This young entrepreneur began her career by running the Banfield clinic in Lafayette, Louisiana. This position sent her on her many travels which eventually led her to meet her husband, Michael Tajmir (the love of her life and father to her two beautiful children- Emersyn and Pierce). 

The young couple built a life full of love, happiness, kindness, and community that impacted so many around them. Starting from humble beginnings, Carly and Michael opened their own veterinary clinic, East Coast Animal Hospital, where they serviced pets in the Palm Coast area. Opened in 2020, the hospital quickly outgrew their small building which led them to opening their larger clinic which was converted from an old Denny’s restaurant and is now a thriving hospital that helps thousands of animals and families.

Their generosity knows no bounds. 

There will never be another person like Carly, she spent her life constantly finding ways to grow and help others. The tenacious young woman motivated everyone around her to be better and do better. At any opportunity, she would uplift others and inspire. One of her more amazing accomplishments was when she ran a full marathon of 26 miles while battling stage 4 breast cancer. She ran this huge marathon with her baby brother, Colby Delahoussaye, and the two made it to the finish line together and were greeted by her family. As a runner, Carly was always pushing herself to run farther and never let anything slow her down. 

Carly’s desire to help others also manifested into a podcast that she started with her sister, Cae’ly Romero, called The Stronger Thread, where the sisters shared their stories of battling cancer and provided advice for others going through similar experiences. She was always trying to find ways to use her own experience to help others never have to go through what she went through.

This adventurous young woman prioritized “Bucket List” experiences for her and her loved ones. One of her last acts of love was to send her son and family to see Ronaldo play in the World Cup even though she was unable to attend with them. She made sure her children never missed an opportunity for adventure. Carly created a tradition of birthday experiences instead of presents. One year, her daughter wanted to see snow, so that is exactly what they did for her birthday. 

Carly is survived by her husband, Michael, and children, Emersyn and Pierce. She was the daughter of Dwayne and Bridgette Delahoussaye. Sister to Courtney, Cody, Cae’ly, and Colby. Numerous Aunts, Uncle, Cousins, Godparents, Godchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Special Aunt - Dawn Bourque, Friend and mentor to all. 

She had a passion for gardening, and once told her sister “I think the reason so many of us who battle cancer need to create more life, so we garden and help things grow.”

Some of her other passions were public speaking, she always dreamed of giving a TED Talk where she could motivate and inspire others. Carly also coached her son’s soccer team for many years and NEVER missed a game. 

This woman loved so fiercely that she would not just allow others to “get by” in life. She would push everyone around her to grow and flourish. Her kindness was contagious, even her children know if they see someone in need, they immediately go and find how they can help. She made everyone around her feel like anything could be accomplished, the world was at the fingertips of those who were willing to reach for it. She saw the silver in every situation and no matter how she struggled, Carly would find a way to focus on helping others. Her endless strength provided hope to others.

A favorite memory from her children is mailing Fuglers back and forth to their Mimi and cousins. Anytime they came across one of these hideous toys, they had to send them back to Louisiana where their counterparts would send more to Carly and the kids. Emersyn wanted everyone to know that her mom was “terrible at picking movies” even though she was very funny. Pierce wanted everyone to know that “Pan Colby said she was bossy and only let him have 30 minutes of screen time a day”. Both of her children love their mother more than anything and knew love from her that spans beyond the years she had on this Earth. As a whole, Carly ensured family was at the center of every experience. She loved to travel and see different countries and cultures. Carly loved to take family on new experiences to see the world in different lights. 

A celebration of life was be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church from 10-11 am on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Carly wanted everyone to know that her life is to be celebrated and not mourned. She lived a life that was full of adventure, success, and most importantly LOVE.
